Time to get back to the traditional Oslo Pulse. Today the Pulse is a strategic one: it suits both the new international students and the old onesJ for those of you who don’t know where in Oslo you usually find something to do not spending a lot of money, today’s Pulse gives you an idea of four place of that kind. Those of you who are here from the last semester can take it as a ready made plan of activities for the coming week.

The first place as well as the first event is a concert at Chateau Neuf. On Wednesday Siri Nilsen is coming to BokCafeen(one of the bars there) with her ukulele. It starts at 21.00 and it’s free of charge. For more information check: http://www.studentersamfundet.no/

The next event is a jazz concert at The Norwegian State Academy of Music. It’s three variants of vocal jazz this time. The concert is on Thursday, 17th of January at 19.00 at Auditoriet an NSAM. It’s free of charge.
The NSAM is having a lot of concerts, so it’s worth checking their homepage at www.nmh.no

The next strategic place is AmatørenJStudents house at Sogn student residence. Each Sunday they show a movie at 20.00 .this Sunday it’s “ Mulholland drive” by David Lynch - A Love Story In The City Of Dreams. A woman in search of stardom. A woman in search of herself - in the city of dreams. A key to a mystery - lies somewhere on Mulholland Drive. Free of charge as well.

The last events for today’s Pulse is a movie at Cinemateket. Cinemateket is a part of the Norwegian Film Institute and has a project called “Contemporary Norway”, Almost each Thursday they show a Norwegian movie with the English subtitles. This Thursday it’s a documentary “Girls” by Hanne Myren. A documentary about the toughest girls in the 9th grade. About youthful presumption, loyalty, deceit, and female power structures at an age when everything is at stake. The film focuses on two groups of girls at a school in central Oslo: the tough gang, and the less daring girls from the west side. One girl is stuck between the two groups. Will she be forced to choose between the two gangs, decide which friends to abandon, and which identity to assume?
