The Pulse this Week

This week in the pulse, some American football, a Scottish band and a little shopping.

1) The culmination of the National Football league comes this weekend, with the celebration of the epic Superbowl on Sunday night. Hosted in Glendale, Arizona it is sure to be a tight game with the New England Patriots facing the New York Giants. All American expatriates or football enthuasists can enjoy the game in the comfort of the Hard Rock Café located at Karl Johansgate 45. Better take a nap beforehand because the pre-party starts at 10 pm, with the game kicking off at midnight. As far as I can surmise, this event is free of charge.

2) To be called ‘the new shit’ by British music magazine NME, is quite the label to live up to. Tonight, Thursday January 31st, the electro exploits of the band Gay Against You will surely not disappoint. This Glaswegian duo is heralded for their incredible stage antics, which can involve everything for cupcakes to aerobics wear. Also supported by DJ Samlet Presse, the show starts at 9 pm. Tickets are 50 NOK and Spasibar is found at St. Olavsgate 32. Find the entrance in back courtyard.

3) Got the January blahs? That’s nothing a little shopping won’t cure. After a big nights out Friday and Saturday, you’ll like nothing more than to check out the bric-a-brac market in Grønland this weekend. Get off at the Grønland station and peruse the eclectic wares from 7 am to 5 pm, Saturday and Sunday. This event is free of charge.
