Pulse 06.11

Yet another Tuesday! Time to get some ideas of what to do in Oslo the coming week on a vdery restricted student budget.

1.The first idea for you today is a seminar ” Living Where the Birds No Longer Sing: Rights-Based Approaches to Exclusion in Bangladesh” given by Dr. Tone Bleie, Professor, Institute of Planning and Community Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tromsø.
It’s on Wednesday, the 7th of November 10 a.m. - 12 noon., 4th floor seminar room, SUM, Sognsveien 68
Free of charge

2. It can also be a good idea to watch a Norwegian movie this week. As a part of Cinemateket’s project “Contemporary Norway”, this week comes a movie: “CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO DIE by Marius Holst. The movie is based on a short-story by the famous Norwegian author Lars Saabye Christensen.Otto Olsen is the smallest boy on the soccer team and is finding it hard to gain acceptance from his team mates. His best friend, as well as most everyone in town, is leaving for summer holidays. The youngster is left behind to spend his vacation at home. At this sensitive, lonely moment, a charismatic stranger named Frank appears. It became a fateful summer for everyone.
It’s on 08.11.2007 at 16:30 at Cinemateket.
Free of charge

3. The third event is for those of you who want to practice their Norwegian and meet a well-known Norwegian author Erlend Loe. Some of you have to read his “Naiv. Super” as an obligatory literature for your Norwegian course. Why not go and listen what the author has to tell himselfJ
The meeting is at Biblioteket at Chateau Neuf on Thursday, 8th of November at 20.00
The event is free of charge

4.Now it’s time to get updated on the music life in Oslo.
On Thursday, the 8th of November you’ll have a possibility to attend a jazz-jam in Bokcafeen at Chateau Neuf. Students of the Norwegian State Academy of Music will play for you.
The event is free of charge and starts at 21.00

5.The last event is a concert of Dan Fagerquist, a swedish singer at Blitz.
We as SIN had an interview with Dan last weekJHe sings the songs of a legendary Russian singer Vysotskiy, but Dan does it in his own way!Got your attention?
Then come to Blitz, on Tuesday, the13th of November at 20.00
