17th of May Pulse

Today’s Pulse is dedicated to the celebration of 17th of May:-)
In order to give you, international students, some ideas on what to do, where to go and what you absolutely HAVE to see on this day.
1. You first have to see children's parade. The massive Oslo parade, which is greeted by the royal family from the balcony of the Royal Palace, includes some 60,000 children from around 100 schools as well as marching bands. The children's parade starts at Festningsplassen and Youngstorget, enters the main street Karl Johans gate at Stortorvet by the Cathedral, passes the Parliament and the Royal Palace and ends up at the City Hall square. Best view: along Karl Johans gate and in front of the Royal Palace. The parade starts at 10.00, but be sure to get downtown early enough to get a good spot.
2.The next parade you also have to see is he parade of the "russ", i.e. the high school graduates. The Red Caps leaves Hartvig Nissens school - Gyldenløves gate - Colbjørnsens gate - Parkveien - Henrik Ibsens gate where they join the Blue Caps from Oslo Handelsgymnasium - Henrik Ibsens gate - Frederiks gate - Karl Johan - Roald Amundsens gate – Stortingsgata. It starts at 15.00
3.Another Oslo's 17th of May event is called “17th of May for all". The anti-racist organisation SOS Rasisme celebrates the day with outdoor concerts, stands and entertainment in the idyllic Kuba park by the river Akerselva. Those who initiated the festival wanted to show that the national day was a celebration not only for the ethnic Norwegian majority, but for everyone living in Norway.
The festival has always had free access for everyone. The audience record is about 15 000 people, most of whom sitting on the grass, relaxing, barbecuing and listening to great music.
All the events are free of charge
